Wolfgang Albrecht – a biography

Wolfgang Albrecht, born in 1963, graduated as an engineer in technical computer science in 1988 at the technical college in Wedel. He subsequently established ECI GmbH in Hamburg (Entwicklungsgesellschaft für computergestützte Industriesysteme GmbH – Research and Development Company for Computer-Aided Industrial Systems Ltd.), a company that successfully developed and marketed standardised logistics solutions. Wolfgang Albrecht held the position of managing partner at ECI.

The subsidiary, ECI Systems Ltd., was established in the UK in 1996. As its managing director, Wolfgang Albrecht was responsible for the development of business in the UK.

PSI AG (Berlin) acquired the majority shareholding of ECI GmbH in 1998, and Wolfgang Albrecht was made managing director.

PSI Logistics GmbH was then formed in 2001 from the amalgamation of PSI AG's logistics business unit with PSI's subsidiaries ECI GmbH (Hamburg) and PLANAR GmbH (Dortmund). Wolfgang Albrecht has been sole managing director of PSI Logistics GmbH since 2003.

Since 2005 Wolfgang Albrecht is member of the VDMA steering committee of the Forum Intralogistics and currently CEO of Science Foundation logistics. At the Bundesvereinigung Logistik Wolfgang Albrecht is also a Member of the Research Council, a voluntary group of real-world experts interested in the science of logistics.
