PSIairport/TDM (Truck Dock Management)

Complex business processes exist in a CARGO hub environment, particularly in landside loading and unloading areas. For example, apexes in inbound delivery and pickup lead to delays in air cargo processing. If these processes are optimised by a high-performance IT system, a considerable amount of optimisation potential is unlocked.

This is where PSIairport/TDM comes into play. In Truck Dock Management, trucks coming in to be loaded or unloaded are entered, managed and assigned on a display to the corresponding docks. Orders or freight waiting to be loaded are also assigned to the available docks. When a truck arrives, the corresponding data is entered into Truck Dock Management via a dialogue function. One or more tasks are assigned to each truck (loading, unloading, etc.). Template tasks can be assigned in Truck Dock Management for recurring tasks and changeable data such as the number plate can be entered. All required definitions already exist in the system.

Assignment to an actual dock normally occurs via a simple drag and drop dialogue. The data of the waiting truck or the corresponding task is selected using the mouse and ‘dropped’ on to a dock. As long as a truck has not been assigned to a dock or the assigned dock is occupied by another truck, the waiting truck is assigned to a parking position. The instruction is issued as soon as the truck data is entered. After the data has been entered fully, the system checks whether the required dock is free. If the dock is occupied, the TDM assigns a parking position in the parking area of the CARGO hub. Truck Dock Management then prints a driving task on which the loading dock or the coordinates of the parking position are shown. If the truck is in a parking position and the dock becomes free, the driver is instructed to drive to the assigned loading dock. This information is either displayed on a large screen outside or the driver receives a text message on their mobile phone. The driver drives to the specified dock and carries out the assigned task. The procedure is then acknowledged and the dock becomes free again.
