PSIairport/W&B (Weight & Balance)

PSI Logistics GmbH’s current development, PSIairport/W&B, is based on day-to-day requirements in the real world. Aided by the expertise available at a major German airport, we created a system which covers the significant requirements of Weight and Balance. In addition, it has been structured in such a way, that future changes or individual user requirements can be taken into account. Aside from the functional aspects, the following technical and ergonomic aspects were decisive factors in development:

• ‘Single Screen Interface’: All operating steps are triggered and controlled via a central dialogue. All entries are effective immediately in the calculated and displayed values. This provides the user with immediate information about the consequences of their entries.
• Single/multi user
• Automatic interfaces or manual data maintenance: all planning data (e.g. flight, passenger, baggage and cargo data) can either be maintained manually or automatically via interfaces.
• Fully operational without mouse if required
• User administration allows operation by persons with various authorisations and knowledge levels. For example, there is the option of only allowing specially authorised persons to administer aircraft types.

The relevant data, in particular the master data, can be entered straight from the Pilot Operating Handbook (POH). The output of the relevant lists and documents (e.g. load sheet) occurs in a standardised format in accordance with IATA AHM. Any messages to be sent to other systems after a flight event has been completed are created in accordance with the IATA Passenger Service Conference Resolutions Manual.
The mapping of the work processes and the conversion of the user guidance to the ‘Single Screen Interface’ allow fast orientation and easy, safe operation. This leads to a clear increase in efficiency in the work processes and reduces training effort.
