Berlin, 21 March 2003 –PSI has received the order from the STUTE Verkehrs-GmbH to deliver a warehouse management system. The Warehouse Management System (WMS) from PSI will be employed in the future at the Hamburg-Hausbruch site, where STUTE will erect and operate the new material management center for Airbus Deutschland GmbH. The material management center assumes the complete logistics for parts supply in the assembly of the new Airbus A380 and other existing aircraft programs and centralizes the warehousing about 12 kilometers away from the plant.
The warehouse, with an area of 20,000 square meters will consist of a fully automatic small-parts warehouse, a palette warehouse and boom and block storage in which commissioning will be handled using the principle "man to goods" and will be controlled in a paperless system via telemetry. The parts delivery will be performed just-in-time to the working place in the plant. The WMS will be connected via interfaces with the AIRBUS IT systems and from there supplied with master data, goods received data and planning and order data. The beginning of construction for the material management center has already occurred; the move into the warehouse will commence in the beginning of 2004. An additional project of this type is planned for the Bremen site.
STUTE decided in favor of PSI on the basis of the strength of the WMS and the successful cooperation in previous projects. With this major contract PSI solidifies its market position as one of the largest, independent providers of logistics software.
PSI AG develops individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of large networks (electricity, gas, oil, telecommunications, transport), cross-company production management (steel, chemicals, machinery, automotive, logistics) and information management for government and service providers. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1,300 persons in the group.
