PSI Awarded Contract by Rhaetische Bahn

New customer information system increases attractiveness of Switzerland’s largest private railway

Berlin, 18 April 2007 – The Rhaetische Bahn AG in Chur, Switzerland, has awarded the implementation of a new customer information system (PSItraffic/KIS) to the PSI subsidiary PSI Transcom GmbH. A decisive factor was PSI’s wide-ranging knowledge in the field of passenger information and in particular the high demands of the Rhaetische Bahn in this regard.

In the initial phase, the customer informationsystem will be installed at 29 stations along the 384 km long network of the Rhaetische Bahn. This includes equipping the platforms with a modular system of steles. The displays will consist of 32“-TFT monitors which, along with the departure times, will provide current information. This solution therefore offers, for the first time, the opportunity to use the display for further customer and marketing activities.

The content of the display will be appropriately designed by modern web technologies. Along with videos it will be possible to show the latest news or tourist information. Rail information, especially control center information, will always remain the top priority. The current data supply for the display will be displayed through local control units via a LAN network. This innovative customer information system is unique in its customer orientation and continues to increase the attractiveness of the Rhaetische Bahn’s offer in the Graubuenden tourism region.

With the Rhaetische Bahn, which has already successfully implemented the ERP system PSIpenta in its materials management segment, PSI Transcom GmbH has attained its first important reference in transportation in Switzerland.

PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for energy management (electricity, gas, oil, heating, water), cross-company production management (steel, machinery, automotive, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport, safety and telecommunications. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs more than 1,000 persons in the group.
