PSI Establishes New Business Unit under the Direction of Dr. Marcus Adams

On 1 August 2003 PSI AG founded the new business unit PSI Manufacturing. Here the group is bundling its years of competence and experience from controlling technology and production control under the direction of Dr. Marcus Adams. With the controlling technology product PSImcontrol PSI is offering an innovative control system for industrial applications. The branch focus will first of all be on the automotive industry, but the system is also suited for mechanical engineering and consumer goods manufacturers.

Dr. Marcus Adams obtained his doctorate in the field of distributed automation systems at the University of Karlsruhe, where he was intimately involved in the establishment of the Information Technology Research Center. As an authorized signatory and head of sales for the Dr. Seufert GmbH he was responsible for the market launch of large screens for industrial control centers and in this function set up a global network of sales partners. Following the sale of the company to the Belgian Barco N.V. in 1998, Dr. Adams became a member of the management board of the German subsidiary and as of 2001 was responsible for the Barco Competence Center for the German-speaking countries. Since 1993 he has headed the technical committee “Industrial Communication“ of CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization).

With PSImcontrol PSI is offering a complete new approach in the world of automation, which combines the production logistics and processes from the simulation to real operations under a uniform operating interface. This allows the operator of production pants to put these into operation in a short time and to react more quickly and targeted in cases of unforeseen events. The operator is informed about the current state of production at all times and at all places. With PSImcontrol PSI provides its customers with these competitive advantages without having to remove or replace current plants or tools. As of 2004 the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research will be promoting the development of the system as part of the IT 2006 program.
