PSI Logistics Renews Heart of Cologne/Bonn Airport

Berlin, 5 April 2006 – The Cologne/Bonn Airport has charged PSI Logistics GmbH with the renewal of a number of systems for baggage handling. The package solution from the special provider of logistics software of the PSI Group consists of the control system for the baggage and conveyor system with ultra-modern software modules and the corresponding hardware components. Nowadays, eight of ten German passenger airports depend on solutions from PSI. The total volume of the order is in the upper six-digit region.

The exchange of the control computer for the core of the airport consists of replacing the existing control technology with modern PSI airport software and the integration of the baggage display system with future-oriented ethernet applications. PSI will install the powerful PSI baggage handling system PSIairport/BHS, the flight information system PSIairport/FIDS and the baggage reconciliation system PSIairport/BRS. The integrated system solution provides the Cologne/Bonn Airport with efficient and transparent processing and allows for an optimal integration of results from 100 percent control. The new system will go into operation in the middle of the year. The replacement of the old systems will be performed under operating conditions. In this regard, along with the airport’s competence, PSI Logistics’ experience in the retrofit environment, which has been gained in the modernization of major distribution centers, will be important.

The individual components for the control of baggage and flight scheduling management systems, the modules for weight & balance as well as efficient check-in and boarding processes already cover the many functions required by the market in the standard edition. The modular structure, the future-oriented architecture and the scalability of the systems make customizing possible in a very short time.

Repeated decisions in favor of PSI Logistics as well as the follow-up contracts from a number of airports document the customer satisfaction and the high quality of the airport solutions. With the award of this contract by the sixth largest Germany passenger airport, PSI further solidifies its market position in this segment.

PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of large networks (electricity, gas, oil, telecommunications, transport), cross-company production management (steel, chemicals, machinery, automotive, logistics) and information management for government and service providers. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1,050 persons in the group. www.psi.de
