PSI Obtains Orders from Energy Suppliers for more than 12 Million Euros Several major control systems contracts in the Electrical Energy Business

Berlin, 2 September 2004 – After a slow period for new orders in the last three months, PSI AG has now obtained several major contracts from renowned German energy suppliers totaling more than 12 million euros. Amongst the contractors are Deutsche Bahn AG, the Nürnberg N-ERGIE, Vattenfall Europe, RWE Energy, enviaM and MVV Energie AG.

With the Lehrte Switching Center PSI is implementing the sixth railway electrical supply control station for the Deutsche Bahn based on PSI control technology. The special features of this solution are the complex, rail-specific switching programs in connection with a preview function and the link to extensive process peripherals.

For N-ERGIE the PSI Network Control System of the former Fränkische Überlandwerk AG (FÜW) will be expanded to be a cross bracing control system. In this conjunction the tasks of the former electricity control systems of FÜW and EWAG will be combined into a new system and supplemented with functions for the pipeline control.

With the order ”Operational Management Heat“ for Vattenfall Europe for the remote heating networks in Berlin and Hamburg, a completely new system type is being developed. The extended Workforce Management System is based on the system PSIcommand and will be supplements by extensive distribution functions from the PSImerkur system components. The system represents a pilot application fort he handling of business processes from sales, construction and operation/maintenance. As a result of the cost-savings achievable the system will also become attractive for other energy suppliers.

PSI won interesting extension contracts from RWE Energy and enviaM. For the RWE- Brauweiler primary switching control a major rear projection is being installed with PSI software as an additional stage of the partial renewal. The enviaM system will be expanded for the takeover of the control of the entire network of the former MEAG.

One important innovation is the expansion of the cross bracing control system supplied by PSI with grid calculations for the MVV remote heating network of MVV Energie. Because it is the largest connected remote heating grid in Europe several thousand nodes and branches have to be taken into consideration. The calculations with respect to handling and data preparation will be completely integrated into the control system. The expansion can be inexpensively retrofitted in all PSI cross bracing control systems.

In the Gas Business the number of investment projects has not yet increased as a result of the uncertainties about the continued liberalization of the gas market. In general the new order underline PSI’s strong position as a provider of control systems for energy suppliers.

PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of large networks (electricity, gas, oil, telecommunications, transport), cross-company production management (steel, chemicals, machinery, automotive, logistics) and information management for government and service providers. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1,150 persons in the group.
