PSI Wins Austrian Energy Supplier STGW as New Customer Control system for the regulated gas market in use in the future in Steiermark

Berlin, 9 June 2004 –PSI AG has been charged by Steirischen Gas-Wärme GmbH (STGW) with providing a new network control system for the 3,000 kilometer long gas pipeline network in Steiermark. As part of the replacement of the current system, the requirements of the liberalized Austrian gas market are to be taken into consideration. PSI will act as the general contactor for all system components of the application for traders and network operators as well as for the entire hardware for the control system.

The new system solution is intended to guarantee non-discriminatory support of all the operative and planning business processes in the gas business. This effects on one hand the operative network control by the network operator and on the other hand the activities of the trader on the basis of the legally stipulated unbundling and discrimination ban. Supply security, maintenance of all the contractual obligations and the reliable communication with all business partners are the primary focus.

Along with the newly developed network control system PSIcontrol V7, STGW will also have the simulation tool PSIganesi and a number of additional applications fort he support of the network operation. For the operative and planning contract management, gas management components will be provided on the basis of PSItransport. With these, the contract, balance sheet group and timetable management can all be operated in accordance with the requirements of the liberalized Austrian gas market; alternatively also with optimization. For the gas management communication components are planned on the basis of PSIcomcentre.

The new system will be available to STGW in the spring of 2005 after a good year of project work. In view of the EU expansion, the new customer STGW is particularly important for PSI due to STGW’s involvement in Slovenia, Croatia and Slovakia.
