PSI Wins New Major Contract from Three Public Transport Providers in Brandenburg Modern Control System for Public Transportation in Northeast Brandenburg

Berlin, 4 December 2002 – PSI AG has received a major contract from the public transport providers Barnimer Busgesellschaft mbH (BBG), Personenverkehrsgesellschaft mbH in Schwedt/Angermünde (PVG) and the Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (UVG) for the delivery of a new operating control system. The contract includes supplying a new network control center and extended functions for several hundred buses on the basis of the most up-to-date technology for on-board computers and ticket printers. The contract has a value of several million euro.

The new generation of the computer-supported operating control system includes an integrated global positioning system (GPS) and a radio communication solution between vehicles and the control center. This is based on the GSM language service and Deutsche Telekoms newly introduced GPRS data service and will significantly increase the appeal of regional bus transit in northeast Brandenburg. As a result, public transportation will become faster; more buses will run on time, and operational disruptions will be recognized and addressed more quickly. In addition, information on scheduled stops will by made more dynamic for passengers.

This added major contract in the transportation technology industry is an important step for PSI in terms of developing this market with future potential.
